This has, however, been accompanied by the shadow of it currently being set to be his last season at the club. His current contract expires at the end of the season and his renewal has been a constant discussion as Liverpool have flown to the top of both the Premier League and Champions League under his direction.

Salah himself has spoken to the media about the contract situation, causing a complete furore in the football world by seeming to suggest that the club aren’t trying to get a deal done half as much as fans want them to be.

If Salah were to leave Liverpool, it seems like Saudi Arabia would be his destination.

Reports are suggesting that the Saudis would be willing to make him the highest paid footballer in the world, more than the £3.2m-per-week they are currently paying Cristiano Ronaldo.

This stems from Salah’s place as an Egyptian and the biggest Arab sports star in the world. The Saudis understand the value of that and are willing to pay through the nose for it.

Salah himself is obviously proud of his nationality, taking every opportunity he can to represent his country.

Salah pays homage to legendary 'Captain'

And he has done so off the pitch in his latest Instagram story, paying homage to legendary Egyptian actor Nabil Al Halfawi, who sadly passed away yesterday.

"Immortality belongs to Allah in the death of respected actor Nabil Al Halfawi. We will miss you, captain." reads Salah’s post.

Al Halfawi, known by his nickname ‘The Captain’ because of his role as a sea captain leading an Egyptian military frogman squad in 'Road to Eilat’, a 1994 film set during the 1969 War of Attrition.

He also starred in other successful films and series like Raafat Al Haggan, Agent 13, Wannous, Zeezinya, amongst others.
