Midfielder 'dreams' of playing for Liverpool amid transfer speculation

Reports from France have recently claimed that Monaco's Aurelien Tchouameni is leaning towards joining Liverpool over Real Madrid.

In today's edition of L'Équipe, as cited by LFC Transfer Room's Twitter account, they claim that Tchouameni could make the move to Anfield.

The report also states that the 22-year-old midfielder 'dreams' about Liverpool’s project and that he has already held discussions with the Reds' representatives.

However, Liverpool aren't the only ones interested in the Frenchman. L'Équipe has further added, as cited by MadridXtra on Twitter, that Real Madrid have made the signing of Tchouameni their 'priority' after missing out on Kylian Mbappe.

Finally, in the same report from the French newspaper, they state that Monaco are wanting around €100 million (£84 million) for Tchouameni this summer.

It does seem like Tchouameni will be leaving Monaco this summer. With some of Europe's biggest clubs interested in him, the French side will be looking to cash in on him.

Liverpool are more in need of a midfielder than Real Madrid currently, however, paying £84 million for a 22-year-old is something that the Reds have never done before.

Our biggest money signings, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson, were necessities at the time they joined. If Liverpool were to sign Tchouameni, then he'd need to make a similar impact to those two, which is a big ask for a youngster.

Despite Liverpool's clear interest in the Frenchman, reports from Ian Doyle of the Liverpool Echo, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, claim that the Reds have been told that Tchouameni has chosen Real Madrid over a move to Merseyside.

"Everything is pointing to the fact he will join Real Madrid. Liverpool have been informed by the player's representatives that he wants a move to the Spanish side," the journalist said.

"Tchouameni is one of several players the Reds have looked at as they aim to refashion their midfield in the coming few transfer windows, but it's been clear to Liverpool for some time that the Bernabeu is his most likely destination."
