Michael Edwards approached by three clubs including Premier League rival

Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are reportedly trying to convince Michael Edwards to become their new Sporting Director.

According to Melissa Reddy of Sky Sports, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Chelsea are expected to engage Michael Edwards over their sporting director vacancy.

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested in bringing Edwards in, as well as hedge funds and billionaires wanting to buy clubs and have him run them.

Chelsea's new owner, Todd Boehly, is apparently an admirer of his overhaul at Liverpool and he wants him to replace their former Sporting Director Marina Granovskaia, who left her position this month.

However, Edwards has been adamant about taking a break and spending time with his family after spending 10 years at Liverpool.

Reddy says that it's understood it would take something to 'blow the bloody doors off' to even get him to a meeting at the moment, let alone consider a new job in football.

Anfield Watch Verdict

The last thing we want is Michael Edwards to join a Premier League club let alone Chelsea. With the money he'd have at the London club, he'd be able to make a dynasty.

If any club is smart enough they'd give Edwards whatever he wants to join their club. He got Liverpool to become a European powerhouse again after nearly being liquidated and not existing anymore.

Thankfully, it seems like he wants a bit of a break after a hectic decade on Merseyside.

I also can't see him joining PSG considering they just signed Luis Campos as their Sporting Director, someone they've been trying to sign for years.

Real Madrid would be a great move for Edwards, he'd have unlimited money and he wouldn't have to find bargains like he did at Liverpool.

Who knows though, maybe he enjoyed the challenge of working on a budget with the Reds.

Only time will tell where Edwards ends up. Hopefully, it's not the Premier League.
