"Maybe he can come back" - Harry Wilson hints at Neco Williams' future

Former Liverpool player Harry Wilson has praised Neco Williams for what he achieved during his loan spell with Fulham.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the winger said that he was very impressed with how Williams performed during his time at Fulham.

"He was in a decent position at Liverpool to learn from the best right-back in the world (Trent Alexander-Arnold) but it came to a point where he had to go get minutes for himself and it has benefited him massively," Wilson said.

“Obviously, Neco had the option halfway through the year to get some game time with Fulham and I spoke to him beforehand. I thought the way we played, the style of football at Fulham, suited him.

“I feel like when you’re at that age, you need to get first-team football. He came in January and it was like he had been there for the full year. He’d done really well, managed to get a couple of assists, few goals as well, lots of minutes under his belt.

“Neco was at a similar age that I was when I had my first loan to Hull. Everyone can see that when he puts on a Wales shirt. I think we can see from his performance the other day that did him a world of good. And who knows? Maybe he can come back next year.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

It seems pretty certain that Williams is going to continue his career away from Anfield next season. His impressive loan move to the Championship seems to have earned the 21-year-old a lot of admirers.

A recent report from the Liverpool Echo, as cited by AW's Twitter account, claimed that the Reds will allow the Welsh international to leave this summer for a fee of £15 million.

That's a reasoable price for a 21-year-old with 20 international caps and a Premier League winners medal in his trophy cabinet.

Williams' contract with Liverpool doesn't end until 2025 either and the fact that he's classed as homegrown means that the Reds could probably demand much more if they wanted to.

However, it seems like Jurgen Klopp and the board have accepted his wish to play first-team football elsewhere next season.
