Fulham boss Marco Silva has opened up on Fabio Carvalho's mood the day after his transfer to Liverpool came to a halt.

The Reds had reportedly agreed an £8 million transfer fee with the Cottagers for the 19-year-old's services on deadline day of the January transfer window.

However, Carvalho was going to remain at Fulham for the remainder of the season. But, the clubs were unable to complete the necessary paperwork before the deadline.

Despite that being the case, Silva made it clear that the midfielder still rocked up to training with a smile on his face the next day.

“There are not many things to tell you,” the former Everton boss said, as quoted by the Metro.

“Fabio is really happy. The day after I saw him with the same smile on his face. This is the main thing.

“What I said was that Fabio would stay until the end of the season. That was our decision, we could control that. That’s the reality with that.

“The people in England love the last day [of the transfer window].”

It has been reported that Fulham will sell Carvalho to Liverpool in the summer.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Former Fulham boss Scott Parker predicted last year that Carvalho has a bright future in the game.

As quoted by the Belfast Telegraph, the 41-year-old said the following: “I don’t want to heap too much on Fabio because he’s still a young boy but the future’s bright for him and he’s someone that I really like and someone that I look forward to working with really.”

As things stand, Parker appears to be right. Carvalho is having a decent season for Fulham. The midfielder has scored seven goals and registered four assists in 19 appearances.

Therefore, we do hope that Liverpool and Fulham come to an agreement regarding Carvalho in the summer. But, only time will tell if that is to be the case.
