Manchester United fans received a much-needed dose of good news ahead of their pivotal FA Cup quarter-final showdown against Liverpool this Sunday.

Erik ten Hag, the Red Devils' manager, confirmed the return of three key players who could all feature at Old Trafford at the weekend.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Ten Hag said: "We had a good week. All the players you mentioned [Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Rasmus Hojlund], they returned on the pitch."

Given United's lack of firepower, all eyes will naturally be on whether Rasmus Hojlund makes the cut when the team sheets are announced.

The Denmark striker has been in prolific goal-scoring form of late, netting 13 goals across all competitions.

After a recent spate of knocks in defensive positions, including the absence of Jonny Evans, the return of Maguire and Wan-Bissaka will come as a massive relief for Ten Hag's side.

The experienced Northern Irishman is set for a period of recovery to overcome a knock he has been managing.

Mount could make the bench

Ten Hag also provided updates on other sidelined players, revealing that Tom Heaton and Mason Mount had returned to full training.

Heaton's recovery from a niggling injury could see him back on the bench, while Mount's return after a prolonged absence signifies a potential boost to United's midfield options.

However, not all news was positive for United, as several players remain unavailable for selection. In addition to the aforementioned Evans, keeper Altay Bayindir, defenders Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, and Tyrell Malacia, plus forwards Omari Forson and Anthony Martial, will all be sidelined for the crucial clash.

With their European aspirations dashed, the FA Cup represents Manchester United's sole opportunity for silverware this season. The team, with the backing of their vocal home support, should therefore be especially motivated to knock out their arch-rivals.
