Manchester United are actively trying to hijack Liverpool's Darwin Nunez transfer
Erik Ten Hag is currently trying to convince Darwin Nunez to join Manchester United over Liverpool.
According to football expert Pedro Sepulveda, Manchester United's new manager, Ten Hag, is on his way to Portugal to convince Nunez to choose United over Liverpool.
However, the Uruguayan striker has already agreed personal terms with the Reds, according to David Ornstein from The Athletic.
Sepulveda also said that Nunez wants to play Champions League football, which is something that Manchester United can't offer him right now.
Anfield Watch Verdict
I'd be extremely surprised if this last-ditch effort from Manchester United comes off. The only reason Nunez joins them at this point is because they are offering him ridiculous wages.
If that's the case, then most Liverpool fans would agree that we don't want someone who is money-hungry at our club.
Nunez could become one of the best strikers in the world under Reds boss Jurgen Klopp. At Manchester United, he'd just become another forward who probably leaves the club in five years after achieving nothing.
Sepulveda also confirmed that if Liverpool were to sign Nunez, then his wages would be €6 million per year (around £100k per week).
You’d probably expect Manchester United are trying to double that to convince the Uruguayan to join them, as that's the only thing (money) they have over Liverpool currently.
Honestly, I'm not too fussed if Nunez joins United over us. If he does, then we will have other options.
We've missed out on our first choices before, however, it never seems like that as the players we sign instead pretty much always excel and become world-class.
