Manchester United 2-2 Liverpool: Player Ratings

Liverpool were forced to come from behind after a second-half capitulation to salvage a 2-2 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Reds were dominant during the first half and were good value for their lead, with Luis Diaz volleying home from a Darwin Nunez flick in the 23rd minute to open the scoring.

They continued to press for a second, piling on the pressure as half-time drew nearer. However, they were wasteful with their opportunities - something they would live to regret.

As the game got back underway, Liverpool looked to be in complete control of the contest. But in a moment to forget, Jarell Quansah gave the ball blindly to Bruno Fernandes, who seeing Caoimhin Kelleher way out of position, fired into the open net from halfway.

Kobbie Mainoo then put the hosts in front, curling one into the corner to put Liverpool under serious pressure.

However, the Reds found a reprieve from the spot as Mohamed Salah tucked home with seven minutes to play.

Jurgen Klopp's side were unable to find a winner in the time remained, which keeps Arsenal at the top of the Premier League on goal difference.

Here are the player ratings from the game.

Caoimhin Kelleher (GK): 5

Very little to do in the first half. However, was caught miles out of position as Quansah gave the ball away, allowing Fernandes to shoot into a gaping net to equalise.

Conor Bradley (RB): 6

Booked very early on after flying in on Rashford, put him on a knife edge for the rest of the game. Mixed success in personal battles with the England winger but showed promise going forward, finding himself with a great opportunity late in the first half only for his effort to be blocked by Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Subbed.

Jarell Quansah (CB): 5

Resilient start as United put the pressure on early, and solid for the rest of the first-half. However, it was his catastrophic error that brought about the equaliser when the hosts were threatening nothing.

Virgil van Dijk (CB): 7

Assured at the back as per usual, dealing with lofted balls and threats in the box.

Andy Robertson (LB): 7

Slightly tentative start but grew into the game both at the back and going forward, delivering a few balls down the left-hand side.

Wataru Endo (DM): 6

Decent enough in the hole in front of the defence, but mixed success as United got wind beneath their sails. Subbed.

Dominik Szoboszlai (CM): 6

Had a golden opportunity inside three minutes as he found himself charging towards United's goal - denied by a brilliant save from Onana. It wasn't his last big opening of the first half - he looked to have it on a plate after Robertson fired the ball across into the box, but he could only hit his effort wide. Very involved in and around the box, but final shot/pass wasn't always there. Subbed.

Alexis Mac Allister (CM): 7

Strong in the challenge and relatively assured in possession throughout the contest, barring a couple loose passes.

Mohamed Salah (RW): 7

Lovely through ball to feed Szoboszlai in the first couple minutes, could have easily assisted the opener if not for the hand of Onana. Constantly involved during the opening stages, but as the game continued and chances piled up, his wastefulness began to take centre stage. However, rose to the occasion from the spot to find an equaliser during Liverpool's time of need.

Darwin Nunez (ST): 6

Good opportunity went slightly to waste during the opening minutes, opting against threading Salah through and instead driving at Maguire - only to slip and fall in front of the defender. However, made up for a quiet start by flicking on a corner into the path of Diaz, who acrobatically fired home. Got caught in two minds as Liverpool sought to respond quickly to United's equaliser, botching a finish when the Reds went five on two. Subbed.

Luis Diaz (LW): 8

An outlet for excitement as he so often is, he provided the important opener - finding himself in the right place at the right time to fire home from Nunez's flick. Increasingly erratic as United turned the game around but forever a presence. Fired one over late on that could have brought a vital winner.

Substitutes

Joe Gomez (Bradley, 66'): 7

A presence on the edge of the opposition box, firing a couple efforts towards Onana's goal - one which was deflected and could have caused trouble. Decent at the back as well.

Curtis Jones (Szoboszlai, 66'): 6

Wasn't close enough to Mainoo for the goal that proved decisive. Progressive going forward but little to show. Booked for a cynical challenge on Antony that prevented a breakaway.

Cody Gakpo (Nunez, 69'): 6

Sloppy on the ball when Liverpool needed composure, but produced one promising breakaway in stoppage time.

Harvey Elliott (Endo, 69'): 8

Won the penalty that drew the game level. Once again made the difference from the bench.
