Liverpool FC News: Jurgen Klopp unexpectedly praised by Man Utd star
Jurgen Klopp has received unexpected praise from a Manchester United star for his mentality when it comes to football.
Liverpool faced Man Utd in their final game before the March international break, with the Reds suffering an agonising 4-3 defeat in the FA Cup quarter-finals at Old Trafford.
Liverpool played well for large periods in Manchester but failed to take sufficient advantage of the countless openings presented to them, while also making some costly errors in their own half.
It was a crushing defeat for supporters given the fierce rivalry that stands between the clubs, but that hatred hasn't prevented Man Utd skipper Bruno Fernandes from heaping praise on Jurgen Klopp.
WHAT DID BRUNO FERNANDES SAY ABOUT JURGEN KLOPP?
Currently away with the Portugal national team for several March friendlies, Fernandes revealed that he appreciates Klopp for his 'passion' and 'intensity'.
Speaking to A Bola, the Man Utd midfielder said: "[Klopp] is one of the coaches I appreciate the most, for the intensity he brings to games and the passion he has for football.
"I think what he's done [choosing to leave Liverpool at the end of the season] is another demonstration of how much he loves football. He feels that, if he is not at his best, he is not giving his best to the game. I think like that too, in the same way as him.
"He is a coach who really influences my passion for football."
It was surprising praise from a man that Liverpool fans widely loathe for his on-field antics, with Fernandes also going on to hail Pep Guardiola as 'the best coach in the world'.
Whether Erik ten Hag will be happy with Fernandes offering such passionate compliments to his rival coaches remains to be seen, with the Dutchman still miles off the levels set by Klopp and Guardiola in recent years.
