Luis Diaz is an incredibly important facet for Arne Slot and the Liverpool team.

Having signed for Reds in 2022, he has delivered impeccable performances with his jet-like pace, samba skill and hungry appetite for goals.

Diaz wages astronomically low

The forward’s wages are quite a shock. According to Capology, Diaz earns £55,000 per week which for a footballer especially at a Premier League standard and for the amount of games he has played in, is considerably low.

When you put that into perspective, that's less than Kostas Tsimikas who in comparison earns £75,000 a week.

Moreover, his left-wing compatriot Cody Gakpo earns over half of Diaz’s total sum coming in at £120,000 per week. This may seem incredibly harsh considering the Reds number 7 is ahead of Gakpo in the pecking order this season.

It seems unfair. But can Liverpool afford to pay him more?

With contract negotiations occurring between Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent-Alexander Arnold, if agreements are reached we can expect these three's wages to significantly increase.

This will leave players like Diaz in the dark. His demands could be neglected which may lead to an early exit from the club.

His contract is set to expire in 2027, but the player and his agent will put his happiness and needs first against the club's wishes.

Slot will be eager to keep hold of the player. What he offers to the team is more than goals. Its creativity, passion, flair and hard work.

However, it has been recently reported that Diaz is ‘open to offers’ from sponsors as he looks to capitalise on his growing reputation. With Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain sniffing around and eagerly awaiting his decision, a huge decision is coming for Liverpool.

They're not going to be able to avoid it.
