Music to Arne Slot's ears as Luis Diaz LOVES playing with Everton FLOP
Featuring heavily in Arne Slot's impressive start to the season, Luis Diaz is in great form.
Scoring five goals in the Premier League after just seven games, the Colombian is well on his way to making this season his bets yet.
And in addition to his domestic improvements, he has excelled on international duty with Colombia.
Notching two goals in his country's four CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers, the 27-year-old looks raring for success on all fronts this season.
His country has lost just one of their last 10 qualification matches, sitting just three points behind current holders Argentina in the standings.
And in a recent interview, he divulged that the key to his international form is the partnership he has developed with a former Everton star.
Diaz and James Rodriguez - a match made in heaven?
Speaking to One Football, Diaz said: "We already know the relationship I have with James, for me it is an honour to play alongside him.
"We only make two or three signs to understand each other.
"We are always together, we try to share every moment, and he, with his talent, always speaks on the field of play."
Now at 33 years old, the Columbian legend is nearing the end of his career and no one will forget the Puskas award-winning goal of the tournament he scored in the 2014 World Cup.
Whilst still playing for the national team, the former Everton player has become incredibly influential in the Colombian dressing room, leading Diaz to come to admire him and for the two to develop a 'special connection'.
Arne Slot has become an increasing admirer of the No10 position, with Dominik Szoboszlai currently occupying the role, alongside Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott being played further up the pitch.
Liverpool's current attitude in the transfer market is one of cautious opportunism, which is how the Reds managed to pull off the signing of Federico Chiesa last summer.
Rodriguez has only recently embedded himself into his new club Rayo Vallecano, but given the nature of the partnership forming between himself and Diaz, we may see a second Colombian at Anfield in the near future on a short-term deal, should Slot wish to further enhance Diaz's effectiveness this season.
