Luis Diaz 'alarm' with growing fears over severity of his injury
Colombia are concerned that Liverpool attacker Luis Diaz may have suffered a serious injury after Jurgen Klopp withdrew him against Manchester United in Sunday's FA Cup match.
Luis Diaz was substituted in the 114th minute of Liverpool's 4-3 quarter-final defeat at Old Trafford, with the winger looking in a little discomfort as he trudged off the pitch in extra time.
Klopp confirmed after the match that Diaz "felt his groin", while Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo also came away from Manchester with hamstring and ankle issues respectively.
Diaz has been called up to the Colombia squad for games against Spain and Romania over the March international break but, despite Klopp not yet confirming the severity of the forward's injury, the national team are concerned that he may be set for a spell on the sidelines.
AS report that there is an 'alarm' going off in the national camp, with some other key player such as ex-Everton defender Yerry Mina and Braga left-back Cristian Borja having already pulled out of the Colombia squad.
Diaz has been in improved form since the turn of the year despite not being back to his breathtaking best just yet, so any long-term injury would be a major blow to Liverpool and Colombia.
The 27-year-old is likely to undergo scans on his problem today to figure out just how serious the issue might be and whether he can join up with the national team this month.
WHICH LIVERPOOL PLAYERS ARE INJURED?
Diaz, Nunez and Gakpo may have added their name to a star-studded injury list this weekend, with the trio potentially joining some key players in the treatment room.
Curtis Jones has been sidelined since the 4-1 win over Brentford in mid-February and was unavailable against Man Utd, although Klopp suggested that he could return for the Brighton clash after the international break.
Diogo Jota was also injured at the Gtech Community Stadium and Trent Alexander-Arnold was sidelined the week prior to the Portuguese, with both players expected back in early April.
Alisson is not available for Brazil over the international period after suffering a hamstring injury against Arsenal over a month ago, with the goalkeeper's recovery window unknown.
Stefan Bajcetic has played just two games this season but should be back in team training after the international break according to Klopp.
Ben Doak, Joel Matip and Thiago are long-term absentees.
