Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has waxed lyrical about Borussia Dortmund midfielder and reported Reds target Jude Bellingham.

The England international is a serious talent. Bellingham has scored six goals and registered 13 assists in 43 appearances for Borussia Dortmund's first-team this season.

The 18-year-old has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.21 across the 2021-22 campaign.

Therefore, we weren't surprised to hear Gerrard speak so positively about Bellingham in a recent interview.

“Last question, top five midfielders playing right now?” former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand asked the Scouser on his self-named podcast (00:50).

Gerrard replied: “Top five midfielders playing now? In the Premier League or worldwide? Good question. I love Jude Bellingham, absolutely loving him, Kevin De Bruyne, these will be attacking players, Mason Mount I love what he’s doing. There’s three for you. (Mateo) Kovacic at Chelsea and then I’ll go with Fabinho at Liverpool and I love Rodri too."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Like Gerrard, we also love Bellingham. We really do hope that the club make a move for the England international in the near future.

The scary thing about Bellingham is that he is only 18 years of age. With that being the case, it would be fair to assume that he is far from the finished article.

Bellingham's signature won't come cheap. His current contract does not expire until the summer of 2025 and he possesses a current market value of £67.50 million.

But, there is no denying that Bellingham would be worth every penny. The reality is, he could play in Liverpool's midfield for well over a decade.

So, hopefully Liverpool and Bellingham cross paths in the near future. However, only time will tell if that is to be the case.

For now, we are going to focus on the football.
