Ex-Liverpool star Loris Karius and supermodel girlfriend Diletta Leotta denied entry to Berlin super club Berghain

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius and his DAZN presenter girlfriend - the supermodel Diletta Leotta - might be one of the most recognisable celebrity couples in Europe right now but that did not do them any favours on their recent city break to Berlin. 

Karius played on loan for Union Berlin during the 2020-21 season and he, along with Diletta, shared pictures across social media of their trip to the German capital last month. 

The sporting couple were, however, DENIED entry to the world famous Berghain nightclub during their stay and, as revealed by Diletta, her other half was to blame for the bungle. 

“I was in Berlin and I really want to go to Berghain, this very famous one nightclub in which there is very strict entry control,” Diletta said.

“I came to the front with my beautiful coat, you know, the yellow one with all the fringes, and with a bright smile and said: 'Hello!' 

“But guys, I've never been dumped like that before!

“Loris made a mistake, among other things, because he made me go in first. Girls usually have more chances. And they looked at me like that and did that [shakes head].”

Karius and Diletta have been together since October 2022, becoming parents to a little girl, Aria, in August 2023 and the pair are set to get married in Sicily in June. 

Diletta urges Karius to leave Newcastle

Diletta hit the headlines last month when she urged her fiance to leave current club Newcastle United in order to be closer to her base in Milan, citing a lack of direct transportation options. 

“[He should join] Monza or any other team in Italy,” the DAZN host told Tuttosport. 

“I would be happy if he came to Italy to play near his family. Newcastle is very inconvenient because there are no direct flights.”

Karius, 30, has been with Newcastle as a back-up goalkeeper since 2022. He endured a torrid time during a six-year spell at Liverpool, making two mistakes in the Champions League final in 2018 which were later attributed to concussion. 

"We don't use it as an excuse, we use it as an explanation,” manager Jurgen Klopp said. “For me, it's 100 percent the explanation. He was influenced by that knock – that is 100 percent.”
