Liverpool's predicted XI for tonight's clash against Aston Villa
Aston Villa and Liverpool will lock horns at Villa Park tonight.
The Reds go into the match in superb form. Liverpool have only lost five of their last 34 Premier League meetings home and away.
But, to stay in the title race, Jurgen Klopp's side must defeat Aston Villa. Below is our Liverpool predicted XI for the game.
Alisson - Goalkeeper
Alisson, Liverpool's No.1 goalkeeper, has started in 49 games for the club's first-team this season.
Therefore, we don't see Klopp resting the Brazil international for tonight's match.
Trent Alexander-Arnold - Right-back
Alexander-Arnold could prove to be the difference in a fixture like this. The right-back has registered 19 assists in 43 appearances for Liverpool this season.
With that being the case, we expect to see Alexander-Arnold's name on the teamsheet tonight.
Joel Matip - Centre-back
Matip is an experienced campaigner. In a game where Liverpool are coming up against Danny Ings, Ollie Watkins and Philippe Coutinho, the 30-year-old should start.
Virgil van Dijk - Centre-back
Liverpool have only conceded 23 goals in 35 Premier League matches this season. Van Dijk is a key reason why that is the case.
The Dutchman has made 33 top-flight appearances this campaign. Van Dijk is arguably the first name on the teamsheet.
Kostas Tsimikas - Left-back
We would not be surprised if Tsimikas started against Aston Villa. Yes, the Greece international is the club's second-choice left-back.
But, Tsimikas has shown that he is more than capable. The 25-year-old has been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.05 for Liverpool this season (23 appearances).
Andy Robertson, the club's first-choice left-back, has played in nearly every match for Liverpool this season. So, he could probably do with a rest.
Jordan Henderson - Midfield
Liverpool will need legs in the middle of the park against an energetic Aston Villa side. Henderson certainly gives the Reds exactly that.
The Englishman is also good with the ball at his feet. Henderson completed 83.3 percent of his passes against Tottenham at Anfield last weekend.
Naby Keita - Midfield
Keita has a moment of brilliance in him. We saw that with his goal against Newcastle United at St James' Park just over a week ago.
Therefore, Klopp would be wise to start Keita in a must-win game.
Thiago Alcantara - Midfield
Thiago has arguably been Liverpool's best player in recent times. The Spaniard has been controlling football matches.
In a game where you need a composed head, Thiago is Liverpool's man. Klopp's comments earlier this month further highlight just how well the midfielder has been playing.
As quoted by Empire of the Kop, the German said the following during a press conference: โWhen Thiago is in the shape heโs in now, he would play for any team in the world and that is Spain as well.
โThey are an incredibly talented team but the shape heโs in, heโd play for every national team. Thiago needs to be fit and gain rhythm and he can show his best form."
Mohamed Salah - Wing
Salah has had a superb 2021-22 Premier League campaign. The winger has found the back of the net 22 times and registered 14 assists in 33 appearances.
With that being the case, Salah starts at Villa Park.
Diogo Jota - Wing
Jota has not been a regular in Klopp's starting XI in recent weeks. But, Liverpool have played in some intense Premier League and Champions League games as of late.
So, we would not be surprised if Jota was called upon tonight.
Sadio Mane - False Nine
Mane has been in good form for Liverpool recently. The Senegal international has scored seven goals in his past 10 appearances for the Reds.
If Liverpool are to beat Aston Villa, we can't help but think that Mane will play his part.
