Liverpool's potential Europa League last 16 opponents confirmed
Liverpool now know the eight sides that they could face in the Europa League last 16 ahead of the draw on Friday 23 February.
The Reds qualified directly for the round of 16 after topping their Europa League group, thus avoiding the complication and extra workload of a last 32 tie.
However, with the last 32 stage now completed, Liverpool know which eight teams they could face in their Europa League knockout return.
There are several last 16 opponents that Liverpool will be eager to avoid, including Italian giants Milan and Roma.
Milan comfortably dispatched of Ligue 1 side Rennes over two legs in the previous round, while Roma needed penalties to conquer Dutch outfit Feyenoord.
Liverpool could also face two Portuguese opponents, with Benfica and Sporting CP having booked their spot in the last 16.
If the Reds were to come up against Sporting, it could be an early managerial audition for Ruben Amorim, the Portuguese coach having been linked with replacing Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
German overachievers Freiburg are also possible foes after overcoming last season's Ligue 1 runners-up RC Lens, while Marseille saw off Shakhtar Donetsk to progress.
A clash with Czech side Sparta Prague could be on the cards as well, while Liverpool may want to steer clear of a trip to Azerbaijan to face Qarabag.
The draw for the last 16 is set to take place at 11am (GMT) on Friday 23 February in Nyon, Switzerland.
The first leg will be played on 7 March and the reverse fixture will take place on 14 March.
