Liverpool’s Fabio Carvalho scores AGAIN to extend brilliant goal record
Fabio Carvalho, on loan at Hull City from Liverpool, scored again on Saturday to extend his fantastic goal record in the Championship.
Fabio Carvalho scored again for Hull City on Saturday, bagging the second to put them 2-0 up against Queen's Park Rangers. With that, he extends a fantastic record in the Championship as of late.
The goal was a fine one, with the Portuguese playmaker making a deep run in behind the QPR defence to get on the end of a through-ball. The Liverpool loanee then swept it home emphatically for 2-0.
Carvalho now has eight goals in 16 appearances for Hull, but his recent run is even better. After all, it took him a few games to find his feet.
But in his last 10, Carvalho now has seven strikes. That's also five goals in his last six appearances and four in his last four.
The 21-year-old has consistently scored big goals, too. There was a winning goal against Southampton, goals that rescued points against West Brom and Leicester City, and a brace against Cardiff City in a 3-1 win.
For a player who endured such a ridiculously poor first half of the season, it's exactly what he needed. It could even be enough to rescue his Liverpool career.
Fabio Carvalho's future
Carvalho spent the first half of the campaign with RB Leipzig in what was supposed for be a star-making loan spell. Instead, he barely featured - just 158 Bundesliga minutes in six months.
Things had to change. Liverpool recalled Carvalho and sent him back to the Championship, where he enjoyed the best football of his career so far.
It's proven to be a masterstroke. Carvalho was a bit of a misfit in his debut Anfield season, if only because Jurgen Klopp felt he needed reliable, known quantities in a difficult campaign.
But this loan with Hull shows that Carvalho's quality is still very much there and at 21, it's not too late for him to make it at Liverpool. He needed to shine over the second half of the season if he was to get an opportunity t0 impress the new manager in pre-season and we'd say he's now earned that chance.
