While Kostas Tsimikas remains sidelined with an injury that has hampered him for a number of weeks, Andy Robertson has had to fill in despite finding himself in a disastrous run of form.

Today against Fulham, it cost Liverpool, big time.

His performance started with allowing Andreas Pereira to beat him to a cross sent in by Liverpool's target replacement Antonee Robinson, as the Cottagers took the lead at Anfield.

And then, he denied a clear goalscoring opportunity to make it 2-0 and so he was sent off, leaving the Reds down to 10 men for 75 minutes of the game.

Fans' patience with the Scotland captain was already wearing thin as he conceded a penalty against Southampton three weeks ago, which was followed up by conceding another against Real Madrid in the following game.

As such, recruitment is top of the agenda, although Liverpool may already have the answer to their problem, they just don't know it yet.

Owen Beck scores on loan at Blackburn

One of Liverpool's most talented players at the academy is Owen Beck, who is a 22-year-old left-back.

Given the club's depth in the position, already having Robertson and Tsimikas available to Slot, the club decided it was best for Beck to be sent on loan at Blackburn Rovers.

The move would only be temporary, but it would enable him to get regular game time in a senior men's team set-up, and the club could assess him at the end of the season.

However, the young Welshman has excelled beyond anyone's expectations, helping the Blues and Whites to nine clean sheets in his 12 appearances for the club.

That is some track record to fall back on when showing your parent club what you're capable of.

Now, of course, the one blip on Beck's record is the red card he received against Preston in September. However, in that same game, Beck was bitten on the shoulder by Milutin Osmajic.

But ever since that game, Beck has been nothing but magnificent in his efforts.

Today, at the same time that Robertson proved that he is increasingly becoming a liability for Liverpool, Beck notched his first goal for Blackburn.

After a ball had been sent into the box that Rovers' striker failed to connect with, Beck was able to really put his laces through the ball to secure another three points for his new club.

Throughout the game, Beck played as more of a left-winger than a left-back, although given Liverpool's profile with full-backs, his ambition to get forward will not be a problem for Arne Slot.

In addition, he won both of the ground duels that he was in, alongside winning a tackle and making two interceptions.

Liverpool may well look to the transfer market this January to recruit a new left-back into the team, such as Antonee Robinson from Fulham - who had two assists today - or Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth - who has already proved he can excel in wins against Arsenal and Manchester City this season.

But should they take a more introspective approach, recalling Beck from loan could be a masterstroke, as they attempt to save their money for the club's ongoing contract saga.
