The Reds encountered many difficulties in 2022/23, including injuries to essential players that badly impacted their title challenge.

Though they finished fifth, it was clear that reinforcements were needed to improve the squad's depth.

The midfield options have been a key reason why their recent EPL challenge has faltered. But there's been a complete overhaul this summer, kicked off by Jordan Henderson and Fabinho's moves to Saudi Arabia, which freed up wages, and funds, to go and strengthen.

Ryan Gravenberch

Acquired from Ajax with a whooping £38.5m, Gravenberch is only 21 and has outstanding vision, passing range, and line-breaking ability.

Viewed as Henderson's long-term replacement, he provides a new dimension to a midfield that desperately needed it.

Alexis Mac Allister

The versatile and skilful Argentine joined from Brighton & Hove Albion. MacAllister is an essential addition to Jurgen Klopp's team because of his ability to manage the game and given the reasonable fee paid, may turn out to be the best piece of business they conducted all summer.

Dominik Szoboszlai

The Hungarian is regarded as one of the continent's most talented young players. Szoboszlai's superb dribbling ability, passing, and long-range shooting will make him a dynamic addition to the team. Because of his adaptability, he can play various attacking and midfield roles, giving Jurgen Klopp tactical options.

Wataru Endo

Wataru Endo, a defensive reinforcement from VfB Stuttgart, strengthens Liverpool's defensive capabilities. The Japanese international is renowned for his calm and collected gameplay, superb placement, and ability to stop opponent attacks successfully. Endo's background in midfield and defence gives Liverpool's team vital depth, particularly in terms of defensive cover and tactical agility. His ability to analyze games and make pivotal interceptions will deliver Liverpool's backline more consistency.

But there is still a fear that the depth won't be enough across the season. Naby Keita and Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, though perennially injured, also departed this summer and leaves the first-team squad a little short.

Klopp's tactical adaptability has been one of his defining characteristics during his time at Liverpool and

Endo and MacAllister's acquisitions enable him to alter his formations and strategies as necessary. This flexibility might be essential throughout a lengthy season as lineup changes may be required due to injuries and fixture congestion.

The Premier League, plus the Europa League and other cup competitions, demand arguably a deeper squad than perhaps is currently available. Rotation will be crucial to keep players fresh and prevent burnout - there is hope that the likes of Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott can provide further options on a more consistent basis, as the young men mature and gain more minutes all the time.

It's crucial to have dependable stand-ins to step in and keep the team operating at its peak levels. Gravenberch and Endo, for example, can offer the required rotation options, enabling Liverpool to compete on various fronts without wearing down their star players.
