Liverpool's young talent, Erik Farkas, is set to follow in the footsteps of Kylian Mbappe and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The talented 15-year-old midfielder is one of the highest rated young talents in the Reds' academy having joined the club back in 2021 alongside his older brother, Patrik.

Likened to Luka Modric and Bernardo Silva for his silky ability on the ball, Erik has already been playing an age group higher with the U16s this season and has been catching the eye of not just the Reds' academy coaches but plenty of external scouts too.

Anfield Watch revealed exclusively that Erik is on the radar of several Premier League sides, including Manchester City with the youngster yet to sign a professional contract and his current term expiring in 2026.

He's also about to make a landmark step in his career. Born in Hungary, he has been heavily coveted by the Hungarian Football Federation, but it's England who have managed to lure young Erik to the organisation.

Erik has accepted the call of England's U16 national team for their fixtures this month and he is the sole player from Liverpool in the squad that is set to compete at the Montaigu Tournament in France.

England will take on Japan, Mexico and Portugal in the international tournament's group-stages and Erik is part of a very talented group that includes record-breaking Leicester City star Jeremy Monga.

The 15-year-old became the second youngest player ever to make an appearance in the Premier League earlier this year and now he's set to link up alongside Farkas as England look to follow in the footsteps of some of the world's brightest talents.

England won the first game 3-2 against Japan with Farkas sitting on the bench due to ilness that he's still recovering from. However, he's in line to make his debut against Mexico on Thursday night.

In the past, the likes of Thierry Henry, Kylian Mbappe and Cristiano Ronaldo have competed at the prestigious tournament and it is now this landmark feat that Farkas will achieve himself.

A midfielder by trade who can play in a box-to-box and in the no.10 role, Farkas will be looking to make his mark in the tournament just like all those stars have done before him.

Being the only representative from Liverpool at this age-group highlights just how special of a talent the Reds have on their hands. Farkas is clearly regarded as one of the top prospects at the club and he will have ambitions to make his mark at U18 level for the Reds next season.

But he is among a talented group who face an uncertain future.

Currently, Liverpool are second from bottom in the U18 Premier League North division and have suffered some heavy defeats this season, including a 6-1 drubbing against Sunderland last weekend.

In total, the young Reds have conceded a whopping 63 goals in 21 matches this season.

That's a team very much low on confidence and in need of new players coming in to bring about change.

Farkas looks like someone who will be ready to come in and make a difference at this level very soon. Vincent Joseph and Joshua Abe are two others, but they too are attracting interest from rival sides.

For now though, the focus is on making his England bow at the Montaigu Tournament.
