Liverpool wonderkid is a total Mo Salah REGEN

Mo Salah should be staying at Liverpool beyond this season but the Reds' future is in good hands because he has a player who can follow in his footsteps coming through the ranks.

The Egyptian's future is very much up in the air at the moment. Liverpool are yet to come to an agreement over a new deal for the winger.

The Reds will be hoping Salah stays put and extends. Although that is not a guarantee with the likes of Saudi Arabia stepping up their efforts to sign him.

Nonetheless, sooner or later Liverpool will have to find ways to replace the Egyptian. Salah is not getting any younger at 32 years old and in a few years time there might be someone ready to take over the reins at Anfield.

Why Ben Doak is a Mo Salah regen

You might be raising your eyebrows at that suggestion, but Doak definitely deserves to be in that conversation. At 19 years old, the right-winger is already one of the best prospects in the Championship.

He's made nine goal contributions so far in 23 matches, which is not a spectacular return for a winger but it's not terrible either.

At the same age, Salah wasn't as prolific as he is now. He made just seven goal contributions in 25 matches during his first season in Egypt - a return that's worse than Doak's return at the moment while playing in a far inferior league.

For wingers, it's natural that their output isn't breathtaking when they first enter senior football. It's a different ball park and sometimes attackers need to adjust their game in order to meet the standards required.

But there are signs bubbling up under the surface that Doak is ready to do that.

His latest goal for Middlesbrough on Tuesday night as shown above is a sign of Doak's talent. The way he cuts in from the right onto his left foot is very Salah esque.

It's the kind of move we have seen Salah do at Anfield over and over again and now the young Scotsman is showing he's got it in his locker too.

That's the sign of evolution. Doak is making progress. And within a few years, he has every chance to be at the same level as Salah was when he first made his breakthrough in a top European five league.

That didn't happen for Salah until he signed for Roma as a 23-year-old - Doak has four seasons until then - which is plenty of time to hone his game even further.

If this is just the beginning, the end will be frightening and in years to come he could easily prove to be Salah's regen.
