Liverpool Women tipped to sign World Cup Golden Boot winner
Liverpool women have been tipped to seal the transfer of Japan international Hinata Miyazawa.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder shone at the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand this summer, securing the Golden Boot despite Japan's quarter-final exit, with five goals in as many outings. That tally included a brace against eventual champions Spain.
The Japan Times claims that Liverpool and Frankfurt are among Miyazawa's suitors as she departed Japan on Monday, ahead of making her next career move.
Meanwhile, Nikkan Sports go one further and say that the Mynavi Sendai star will join Liverpool, with her plane bound for England.
Speaking to reporters as she left Taokyo's Haneda airport, Miyazawa said: "My aim is to perform well at the international level (with the new club) and become a famous player.
"I hope to raise my level being surrounded by players from many countries."
If confirmed, the deal would be something of a coup for Liverpool, who finished seventh out of 12 in last season's WSL.
The Reds have already made six signings this summer, including the eye-catching arrivals of Nastasha Flint (Leicester) and Marie Hobinger (FC Zurich).
