Liverpool are reportedly willing to let Japan international Takumi Minamino leave Anfield this summer transfer window.

According to This Is Anfield's David Lynch, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the foward is closing in on a departure from Liverpool as the battle for his signature heats up, with at least five clubs interested.

Those five teams are said to be Leeds United, Southampton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham and AS Monaco.

The report goes on to state that the Reds are willing to let Minamino go this summer for a fee in the region of £17 million (€20 million), and they expect his future to be resolved quickly amid strong interest.

Lynch also claims that Minamino’s agent, Yusuke Akiyama, is currently in Europe holding meetings with a number of clubs as he looks to finalise a move for his client.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Minamino has had a breakthrough season for the Reds, scoring 10 goals in all competitions and being a key reason as to why Liverpool won the FA Cup and EFL Cup.

However, the fact that Liverpool could receive £17 million for the 27-year-old is amazing business, especially considering that the Reds only paid £7 million for him back in 2020.

When speaking about his future last month, as quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Minamino said that he wanted to make a decision on his future after the international break.

"I have Japan matches too (in June) and there will be no time to rest up, but I’ll think about my future after the Champions League final. First I’m concentrating on the match," he said.

In my opinion, I think this deal is pretty much done. It sounds like Liverpool have agreed to let Minamino leave in search of regular game time, something which he definitely deserves.

The Japan international didn't make the impact he would've hoped to when he first joined Liverpool, but that's how life goes sometimes.
