Liverpool are set to do everything in their power to acquire the signature of Benfica's Darwin Nunez this summer.

According to a report from Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha, as cited by Sport Witness, the Reds will ‘do everything’ to land the forward.

The report also states that there will be ‘decisive developments’ happening this week surrounding the transfer.

With Liverpool more than likely needing to replace Sadio Mane this summer, Jurgen Klopp believes that Darwin has the ‘ideal characteristics’ to be part of the squad for next season.

However, the Reds aren't the only club interested in Nunez with the Portuguese outlet also claiming that Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain have all shown interest in the player as well.

Finally, Correio da Manha go on to say that Benfica want at least €100 million to sanction Nunez leaving.

Anfield Watch Verdict

If Benfica don't sell Nunez this summer then it's not too big of a loss for them as the 22-year-old's contract with the Portuguese side doesn't expire until 2025.

However, it seems like the Uruguayan will be leaving Portugal this transfer window due to the amount of speculation over his future.

The €100 million price tag is crazy and it's unknown if anyone will splash that amount of cash for someone who has just had his breakthrough season.

Saying that, he did score 34 goals for Benfica this campaign and under the right manager, he could become a real problem for a lot of opposition teams.

It does seem like Liverpool are going for a striker to replace Mane though and not a winger. Nunez is definitely someone who could replace him and potentially stay at the club for over a decade.

If Klopp wants him, then I fully back his decision.
