Liverpool were planning on making a 'huge' bid for Tottenham's Son Heung-Min this summer transfer window.

According to Alasdair Gold of Football.London, if Antonio Conte and Spurs had failed to qualify for the 2022-23 Champions League campaign, the Reds would've made a 'huge' bid for the South Korean.

After Liverpool have played Tottenham in recent years, Klopp has always gone up to the Spurs forward and has had an in-depth conversation with him.

Gold goes on to claim that Jurgen Klopp has long been an admirer of Son and Liverpool have been planning for the prospect of losing either Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah this summer.

However, Liverpool are not expected to take their interest any further with the player being a key reason why Spurs finished in fourth-place in the Premier League this season.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Imagine Son in this Liverpool side. He would be the perfect replacement for Mane if he does leave this summer.

Son is Premier League proven and every time he plays against us he's the main threat, along with his forward partner Harry Kane.

Son won the Premier League Golden Boot this season, along with Liverpool's Salah. The pair ended up scoring 23 goals in the league.

With the South Korean being able to play every position upfront, he would be an ideal Klopp player.

However, even with Liverpool's interest, it would've been nearly impossible for the Reds to secure him this summer transfer window.

The 29-year-old only signed a new contract with the North London side in July 2021 and knowing Daniel Levy, he would've demanded over £100 million for the 29-year-old.

Our relationship with Spurs is also in disarray after we poached Luis Diaz from under their noses back in January.

We will most likely never get to see Son play for Liverpool, but he would've been a hell of a player under the guidance of Klopp.
