Liverpool now ready to welcome THREE injured players back at once

Liverpool are preparing to welcome back three stars in the same fixture. The Reds are slowly getting their squad back together.

The Liverpool Echo reports that Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota are all very close to returning. Of course, that was essentially confirmed by Liverpool on Tuesday with footage of all three back in training.

It’s clearly only a matter of time - we’re just waiting on a fixture.

Well, the Echo claims the current expectation is that the trio all return at the same time. They believe the away leg against Atalanta next week should be the fixture for Alisson, Alexander-Arnold and Jota.

Alisson hasn’t played since the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on February 4th. Alexander-Arnold picked up his injury a week later against Burnley, while the week after that saw Jota leave the pitch with his.

Thus it’s been over two months with Alisson and will have been over two months for all three by the time they’re back. A massive chunk of the season to be missing three of the world’s best.

Fortunately, the wait is almost over and Liverpool could be back to full strength before long.

Liverpool nearing full strength

Of course, ‘full strength’ needs an asterisk as Joel Matip won’t play again this season - but we’ve known that for a while. The ‘expected’ squad, though, should be together in a week’s time.

And it can’t come too soon. Liverpool hope to win two competitions across the next month-plus and that’s essentially impossible without their star players.

After all, winning the Premier League means outperforming Manchester City and Arsenal. Winning the Europa League means beating a strong Atalanta side and - if there aren’t any upsets - possibly becoming the only side to beat Bayer Leverkusen his season.

It’s a tall order but it’s also the send-off Jurgen Klopp deserves. Getting his stars back ASAP is the only way it’s going to happen, though.
