Liverpool could loan out Leighton Clarkson in January
Young Liverpool midfielder Leighton Clarkson could yet end this January transfer window away from the club as he could potentially be set for another loan spell away from the Reds.
The player joined Blackburn in the summer transfer window at the beginning of this season and was excited to be heading to his hometown club.
Indeed, with Harvey Elliott excelling there last season there would have been hope for more of the same for Clarkson but, unfortunately, that is not what happened.
In fact, the Reds have cut his spell there short and, according to The Athletic, are now weighing up sending him elsewhere on loan before the market closes:
Whether he ends up back at Championship level remains to be seen, of course, as his time at Blackburn will make the Reds wonder whether he is quite ready to be playing in the second tier.
Of course, it might just be the case that at Blackburn it wasn't quite the right fit, and another Championship side might suit him - we'll see what the Reds decide soon enough.
Anfield Watch Verdict
It made perfect sense for the Reds to recall Clarkson and hopefully the young midfielder will not be too down heartened by his experience with Blackburn.
Ultimately, some loans do not always work out for young players and this has been the case here, but there is no reason for him to be too concerned.
Another loan elsewhere might be the best course of action for him, though, and hopefully that can be sorted before this market closes.
