Liverpool warn fans over tickets as some face being locked out of Anfield
Liverpool have issued an urgent warning to fans who buy tickets for upcoming Premier League games after seeing a rise in scams offering fans tickets that are too good to be true.
Demand for tickets to the newly-expanded Anfield stadium has rocketed in recent months after Jurgen Klopp announced he would be leaving the club at the end of the season and the club embroiled in a dramatic three-way title race in the German manager's final season at the club.
However, the huge demand has led to a rise in scammers selling fans fake tickets and scamming supporters desperate to secure their seats for the last games of the 2023/24 season. Fans who fall for the scams risk losing thousands of pounds and could risk being locked out of the stadium if they have bought ineligible tickets for the games.
Liverpool say it has launched an investigation into Facebook and Snapchat pages and groups purportedly offering fans genuine tickets. It says: "The club’s investigations and sanctions team has also seen increased issues with a number of closed ticketing groups on various social media platforms, including Facebook and Snapchat, even where the title of the group claims ‘No Scammers’.
"Liverpool FC has seen a worrying increase in the number of innocent supporters scammed into buying fake or non-existent tickets for home games in recent weeks.
"As a result, the club would like to reiterate the places where fans should purchase Anfield tickets from in order to guarantee they are genuine."
General admission tickets to Anfield are only available to fans who buy them via the club website. Fans will need to be a season ticket holder or a Liverpool FC member. Fans can buy a membership here and signing up also gives fans access to LFCTV Go and discounts on the Liverpool FC store.
Fans can buy hospitality tickets to Anfield from a small number of verified third parties. Liverpool supplies a small number of official partners with hospitality tickets and packages. The list includes Champions Travel, which sells packages for Brodies Sports Bar in the newly developed Anfield Road stand. Fans can book tickets here.
