In Mohamed Salah, Liverpool have the best player in the Premier League.

Having delivered 21 goals and 17 assists across competitions this season already, the Egyptian is also the most in-form forward in Europe.

And while Liverpool are yet to tie Salah down to a new contract, as he faces the risk of leaving for free at the end of the season, the player is hopeful that the club will eventually put a fair offer on the table to allow him to prolong his stay on Merseyside.

In addition, Alexander Isak has been scoring goals for fun this season at Newcastle and a pathway is emerging that would allow the Reds to potentially have the two best assets in England playing for the same team.

Liverpool interested in potential Isak transfer

Last month in the Premier League, Alexander Isak was deemed worthy of being December's player of the month - in netting eight goals and two assists, bettered only by Salah's seven goals and seven assists, which was a league record for goal contributions in a calendar month.

Now imagine both players featuring alongside each other in a Liverpool shirt. It's a beautiful sight, isn't it?

Well, the club's executives might well be licking their lips at the prospect too.

According to FootballTransfers.com, Newcastle are making arrangements in case they receive a bid for Isak that is simply too good to ignore, with the latest report suggesting that Gyokeres is the replacement they would be looking to bring in instead.

However, the Sporting Lisbon striker is still an unknown prospect in the Premier League and Isak is a year younger than his countryman.

The clubs reportedly most interested in Isak are Arsenal who 'hold the Swede in high esteem' and Liverpool who are 'among the most persistent suitors and are best positioned to strike a deal in the future'.

Promising signs for a potentially dream-like forward linkup in the future then. But wait, it gets better.

Anfield Watch exclusively reported earlier this month that Darwin Nunez has been subject to attention from Saudi Arabia and it is according to our intel that Al Hilal made a £70m bid for the Uruguyian that was turned down by the executives.

In what can only be described as an underwhelming three years since Nunez arrived on Merseyside for a club record fee of £85m, it would not be surprising if the club is looking at recruiting a more prolific frontman.

But during the winter transfer window, it was always unlikely that a sale would be authorised while the club is in the thick of a Premier League title charge, and Newcastle would be foolish to allow Isak to move on mid-way through the season as well, regardless of what Liverpool might go on to offer them for him.

However, in the summer, if Liverpool can receive a substantial return on the outlay they spent on Nunez, potentially even breaking even on their £85m deal, then the funds would then be available for a significant push for the Swedish international and knowing that Newcastle have a replacement already in mind is positive news.

Of course, the club will have to finalise a new deal for Salah so that he's available for the next campaign and a decision will still need to be made on Nunez - although it looks all but certain that the writing is already on the wall for him - but it is a genuine possibility that Liverpool's already deadly attacking line could become that bit more dangerous.
