Arne Slot led Liverpool to the top of the league phase, winning all but one fixture. They lost to PSV Eindhoven in their very last game, though they'd already qualified ahead of that one.
All in all, though, Liverpool were the best team in that league phase. PSG were a disappointing 15th, winning four of their eight games and losing three.
Their form has improved, however.

Ousmane Dembele has been the catalyst for that, producing ridiculous numbers over the last few months. He's failed to score in just two of his last 12 starts. 19 goals since the start of December.
Liverpool, then, shouldn't be lulled into a false sense of control here. PSG are better than their 14th-placed finish suggests.
Liverpool score early win
Liverpool, however, have scored an early advantage in their meeting with the French champions.
The Reds will not play for the week ahead of the first leg, 'thanks' to their elimination from the FA Cup. That's a level of rest that Arne Slot's team hasn't really enjoyed at any stage this season.

PSG, on the other hand, have always been scheduled to face Lille the weekend before the clash with Liverpool. That's a big advantage for the Reds - they get rest while their opponents don't.
Only, that advantage was at risk. PSG and Lille were hoping to get that match postponed in order to be fresh for their respective Champions League fixtures.

That's now not happening. L'Equipe reports that the big Ligue 1 clash will continue as planned, with PSG needing to manage two massive fixtures back to back.
Liverpool, however, won't need to do that. The advantage is well and truly theirs.
