In gloomy conditions with a thick fog surrounding the pitch, Liverpool struggled to find their way on the Anfield turf.

They were caught out by an early Leicester City goal, which meant the Reds have had to chase the game for much of the first-half.

In the end, Cody Gakpo salvaged an equaliser to make sure Liverpool headed into the break on level terms.

A big performance is needed in the second-half to turn things around and get things back on track.

Alisson Becker - 6

Apart from the Leicester City goal, he didn't have much to do.

Trent Alexander-Arnold - 6

He was very proactive on the pitch and kept instigating things for Liverpool with some of his deliveries causing problems.

Joe Gomez - 5

Not much to do defensively. He roamed around the pitch and did his duties but he could have been a little better on the ball to help Liverpool move it quicker.

Virgil van Dijk - 6

Liverpool's captain was as calm and composed as he ever is and was not to blame for the goal.

Andy Robertson - 4

Caught out for Leicester City's goal, he looked a little sluggish defensively which has been a major concern all season.

Ryan Gravenberch - 6

Gravenberch is the best defensive midfielder in the world right now. He was trying his best in this game too but he was very restricted by a rigid Leicester defence.

Alexis Mac Allister - 6

He celebrated his 26th birthday over the Christmas period. Wasn't the worst player on the pitch in the first half but definitely area for improvement in the second.

Curtis Jones - 6

Jones was very lively and active with a number of flicks and clever little feints but none of it was enough to unlock Leicester.

Cody Gakpo - 7

Didn't get much of the ball in the first-half and he will be disappointed by that but the one moment he did try to make things happen he delivered with a brilliant effort.

Mohamed Salah - 5

Missed a couple of big chances he might have scored on another night. He was equally unlucky with some of his other efforts. Just not clicking for him so far.

Darwin Nunez - 4

He's had very few touches in the game and looks isolated upfront. Not the kind of response he would have wanted on his return to the starting line-up.
