Here are our half-time player ratings:

Article continues under the video

Caoimhin Kelleher - 8/10

Couldn't do anything for the goal - just a great strike. Then promptly saved Liverpool from going 2-0 down with a magnificent one-on-one save. Potentially the moment of the match.

Trent Alexander-Arnold - 5/10

Not a shocker but an overhit pass took away a big chance for Liverpool. Some very poor passes at the back, too.

Ibrahima Konate - 7/10

Remained composed throughout, making crucial blocks when required. Been reliable in possession and controlled Brighton's threat reasonably well.

Virgil van Dijk - 6/10

The captain has been solid other than one worrying moment where a ball in behind caught him out. The press should have been better, certainly, but the Reds required a top save after Van Dijk was taken out of the game.

Kostas Tsimikas - 5/10

Very little impact going forward. Couldn't do much on the goal - a Liverpool player really should have covered him as he followed his man. Still, not enough influence.

Ryan Gravenberch - 6/10

A quiet one. Gravenberch hasn't quite had control of the midfield in the way he usually does. Not a poor performance but Liverpool need more.

Alex Mac Allister - 5/10

Brighton have had too much of the midfield and Mac Allister doesn't seem to have much effect in stopping them. Too many gaps and not much control in deeper positions.

Dominik Szoboszlai - 6/10

A very quiet one. Needs to find a way to influence this but nearly did so with a wonderful pass at the end.

Mohamed Salah - 6/10

Liverpool need their moment of magic from Salah because they're not getting enough thus far. Still, the team also haven't got him on the ball enough.

Cody Gakpo - 6/10

Not enough from Gakpo who looks nothing like the player who tore Brighton to pieces in midweek.

Darwin Nunez - 8/10

Liverpool's best outfield player, without question. Industrious and eager, his running has been a constant outlet - and the Reds have needed one.
