Liverpool faced Bologna in their second Champions League group stage match of the season with Arne Slot's side entertaining the Italians at Anfield.

Arne Slot's side got off to a great start with Alexis Mac Allister offering his side an early lead. He started and finished the move which culminated in him finishing off a Mohamed Salah cross.

However, the first half descended into mediocrity from Liverpool thereafter with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate both being booked and Bologna coming ever closier to equalising. Thankfully, Alisson Becker stood tall and repelled everything that came his way.

The Serie A side went in at the break frustrated to still be behind, having hit the woodwork and having a goal ruled out for offside.

However Salah put the result beyond doubt after Liverpool weathered the storm, curling in beautifully to kill off Bologna's chances.

Here we rate how Liverpool players did.

Alisson Becker - 8: Had to make some smart saves as Liverpool continuously coughed up chances.

Trent Alexander-Arnold - 7: Delivered some beautiful balls into the opposition half from his right-back station but guilty of sloppily losing possession too often.

Andy Robertson - 7: Had to be alive for one vital back-post interception. Booked. Replaced by Kostas Tsimikas.

Ibrahima Konate - 6: Great sliding block to keep out a decent Bologna chance. Another player harshly booked. Struggled with the ball at his feet at times.

Virgil van Dijk - 7: Incredibly soft booking for a foul on the threatening Dallinga.

Ryan Gravenberch - 8: Wonderful early contribution with Salah should have seen the Reds ahead.

Alexis Mac Allister - 9: Started and finished the move which led to the opening goal. A dominant midfield display.

Dominik Szoboszlai - 6: Failed from one Salah cutback, one terrible header led to a great Bologna chance. Another performance to split opinion.

Mohamed Salah - 9: An exquisite assist and an even better goal. The Egyptian King is unstoppable.

Luis Diaz - 7: Could have put the home side ahead with the first chance of the game. Linked well with Alexander-Arnold.

Darwin Nunez - 6: Missed an early opportunity. Adjudged offside for another chance before striking one straight at the goalkeeper.

Subs:

Diogo Jota - 6: Still battling it out with Nunez for a starting spot.

Kostas Tsimikas - 6: Brought on to give Robertson a rest.

Cody Gakpo - 6: Got a run out in place of Diaz.

Conor Bradley - n/a: Another cameo performance to preserve Trent's energy.

Curtis Jones - n/a: Not on long enough to rate.
