Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Arsenal in December was the most watched Premier League broadcast ever in the Unites States.

The clash at Anfield on 23 December saw first and second go head to head to see who would be top of the Premier League table on Christmas Day.

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães opened the scoring for the Gunners with a header after just four minutes, while Mohamed Salah equalised in spectacular fashion later in the first half.

Despite calls for a penalty when Martin Odegaard handled the ball, the game ended all square, with Arsenal remaining first in the league.

However, the Reds have since regained top spot with wins over Burnley and Newcastle, while Mikel Arteta's side have lost back-to-back outings against West Ham and Fulham.

Record breakers

As well as being an important moment in the Reds' season, the entertaining clash between two heavyweights on 23 December made history as the most watched Premier League game broadcast in US history.

The match averaged 1.96 million viewers on NBC, Peacock and NBC Sports Digital, as noted by to SportsPro Media.

That total tops the previous record of 1.92 million, who tuned in for Arsenal 3-2 Manchester United in January of 2023.

In addition to the NBC figures, an additional 328,000 viewers watched Liverpool's draw on Spanish language channel Telemundo – garnering a Total Audience Delivery (TAD) of 2.28 million viewers.

When factoring in Spanish-language viewership, Liverpool 1-1 Arsenal becomes the second most-watched Premier League match in US records, behind only Arsenal 3-2 Manchester United (2.31 million)

Liverpool take on the Gunners once again this weekend, this time in the FA Cup third round.

Jurgen Klopp's side face a tricky draw at the Emirates Stadium without Salah and Wataru Endo – who have left for international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations and Asian Cup respectively.

The Reds are then scheduled to take on Arsenal for a third time in just over six weeks when they play the reverse Premier League fixture on 4 February.
