Liverpool wonderkid is staying and it's UNBELIEVABLE news for Arne Slot
If Arne Slot is going to have the debut season that dreams are made of then he’s going to have to rely on the depth of his squad.
The loan system that Liverpool are implementing right now has been working wonders, particularly with right-winger Ben Doak facing rumours of a recall to Merseyside from Middlesbrough so that he could contribute to the trophy charge.

And whilst rotation has been necessary for Slot largely due to injury, he has also primarily used League Cup games to figure out how much he could trust some of his deeper squad players.
One of these has been Tyler Morton. The midfielder has appeared in the first three rounds of the League Cup this season, grabbing an assist in the 3-2 fourth round victory over Brighton, as well as starting in the FA Cup third round win over League Two side Accrington Stanley.
Morton has also been in the matchday squad for six of the seven Champions League games so far as well as in eight Premier League squads - although is yet to make an appearance in either.
Yet that could change as we barrel into the second half of the season.
Is Tyler Morton set for first-team action?
Morton raised eyebrows as he described January as a “big month” for himself in an interview with LFCTV, indicating that he could push for a move away from the club to get more gametime.
As Anfield Watch exclusively revealed, he was set for a move to Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, something which would have been an exciting prospect for his own future, yet Martin Zubimendi’s snub of a move to Anfield meant that Arne Slot wanted to keep a key depth piece in the midfield.
Morton, for his part, has been spectacular in his appearances this season. He has been composed, metronomic and graceful in the defensive midfield position, ensuring that the Reds’ build-up play was as routine as it is when the entire first team is playing.
But as the transfer window enters its last week it seems like a move away may not emerge and, instead, he will be relied upon at Anfield.
After Zubimendi’s rejection of an offer, it was unknown who was going to fill the defensive midfield void in Slot’s team. Unfortunately for Morton - in a sense, at least - Ryan Gravenberch emerged as one of the best midfielders in the entire world.
Because of this, Morton hasn’t had a sniff in the starting lineup. Yet Liverpool remain frail at the position and the question of ‘what happens if Gravenberch gets hurt?’ looms over the club.
Morton is pushing to be the answer to that question. Liverpool have been in a scenario where they play every three days almost all season and it may catch up with the entire squad sooner rather than later.
In that case, Arne Slot will need to use the extent of his arsenal. Morton will be key to that.
