Here's all you need to know about the trophies Liverpool have won over the years. The Reds have more than any other English club.

Liverpool have won more trophies in their history than any other English club, pushing Manchester United down into second place. The two Northwestern giants are far and away the most successful clubs in the country - third-placed Arsenal have 18 fewer trophies than United.

But how many do Liverpool actually have? Here's an explainer with all you need to know.

How many trophies have Liverpool won?

Liverpool have won 74 trophies in their history, though this number changes depending on what you count as a trophy. For instance, the Reds won the Lancashire League in 1893 - a league that ceased in 1903.

Then you've got the age-old question of 'does the Community Shield count?' and if it does, should Liverpool count the 'Sheriff of London Charity Shield' won in 1906? That was a competition that saw the best professional side take on the best of the Amateurs.

We aren't going to count the Lancashire League or the Sheriff of London Charity Shield and will instead focus on the trophies won in professional, national and international-level football.

So 74 is what we're going with.

How many domestic trophies have Liverpool won?

Liverpool have won 58 domestic trophies in their history, though that counts four Second Division titles. If we're only counting the 'top' level, it's 54. That places them second all-time, behind Manchester United's 59.

Here's the breakdown:

  • First Division/Premier League titles: 19
  • FA Cups: 8
  • League Cups: 12 (Record)
  • Community Shield: 16
  • Football League Super Cup: 1

Now, we know what question is on its way. The Football League Super Cup was a one-off trophy in the 1985/86 season. It was there to compensate for the ban on English clubs in European football after the Heysel disaster.

It featured six clubs - the clubs that would have played in Europe that season. Liverpool ultimately won it, beating Everton 3-1 and 4-1 across a two-legged final.

How many international trophies have Liverpool won?

Liverpool have won 14 international trophies in their history. This is a record for an English club, with Chelsea having won the second-most (9).

Here's the breakdown:

  • European Cups/Champions Leagues: 6 (English record)
  • UEFA Cups/Europa Leagues: 3 (English record)
  • UEFA Super Cups: 4 (English record)
  • FIFA Club World Cups: 1 (Joint English record)

The Reds are the most successful English side in international competition by any metric, then. No one comes particularly close, and Liverpool boast twice as many Champions League trophies as any national rival.

Which Liverpool managers have won the most trophies?

Bob Paisley is the most successful manager in Liverpool's history with 20 trophies. Paisley is one of the most successful managers in football history, in fact, and has twice as many trophies as any other Liverpool boss.

He managed the Reds for nine seasons and managed to win six league titles, three European Cups, three League Cups, a UEFA Cup, a UEFA Super Cup, and six Community Shields.

Bill Shankly is second on 10 trophies. Over the course of 15 years, Shankly won three First Division titles, one Second Division title, one UEFA Cup, two FA Cups and three Community Shields.

Kenny Dalglish is next, having won nine trophies. He didn't get to manage Liverpool in Europe during his peak, winning everything domestically. That included three League titles,  two FA Cups and four Community Shields.

Fourth is the current Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp. He's won eight trophies with Liverpool and has won more unique trophies than anyone else: one League title, one Champions League, one FA Cup, two League Cups, one Community Shield, one UEFA Super Cup, and one FIFA Club World Cup.

  • Bob Paisley: 20
  • Bill Shankly: 10
  • Kenny Dalglish: 9
  • Jurgen Klopp: 8
