'UNBELIEVABLE' Liverpool star of the FUTURE set for Champions League CALL-UP

Liverpool's young talent could be about to earn an exciting promotion to Arne Slot's Champions League squad.

The Liverpool head coach hasn't given too many young players an opportunity in his senior team since taking over.

Trey Nyoni perhaps being the only exception, who was hailed as 'unbelievable' by Jarell Quansah in pre-season for his impressive performances.

Nyoni’s development has become a real talking point around Liverpool this year, owing to the serious potential that the player is showing.

The youngster has made one senior appearance for Liverpool before - a cameo in the FA Cup against Southampton earlier this year - and has been involved with multiple matchday squads.

Mainly, though, he has become a mainstay of Liverpool’s youth teams, recently playing out 83 minutes in the 3-0 seeing to of Arsenal’s under-21’s and a 0-0 draw with Milan’s under-19’s in the UEFA Youth League.

Nyoni has never featured in the matchday squad for a Champions League game.

Now it is being reported by Liverpool academy journalist, Lewis Bower, that the 17-year old has not been named in the under-19 squad to face Bologna’s under-19’s tonight in the next Youth League game.

Coupled with the fact that he trained with the first-team - and a series of injuries in the camp - many are believing these are indications that Nyoni is about to receive his first ever first-team call up for tonight’s Anfield matchup against Bologna.

Who is Trey Nyoni?

This would be a real groundbreaking moment for the youngster’s development. He has already become a feature of England’s youth setup, scoring as recently as the last international break against Portugal’s under-18’s. He is rapidly progressing through the ranks and a Champions League matchday squad callup is the next natural step.

Nyoni cuts the figure of a ball-dominant midfielder. He has an excellent passing range and vision, as well as elegant feet and positioning that sets him up for success. His brings a different skillset in one player than anyone involved in the first team does: think Trent’s ability to spot a pass with Luis Diaz’s willingness to beat his man, added to Gravenberch’s ability to create space with the ball this season.

The sky is seemingly the limit for the youngster and, if we do see minutes from him tonight, you get the impression it will become a quiz question in the future.

And if you want to feel ancient, Nyoni was born four days before Fernando Torres signed for Liverpool.
