Liverpool PRODIGY ready to replace Szoboszlai in pivotal role
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot laid down a challenge earlier in the season to Dominik Szoboszlai.
The Hungarian captain was signed in the summer of 2023 from RB Leipzig for a sizeable £60m fee, initially taking to life at Anfield with great aplomb in the early part of Jurgen Klopp’s final season in charge.

However, his Liverpool career slowed towards the midpoint of the campaign before an injury affected the second half of his maiden season.
Arne Slot challenges Szoboszlai
Although still a regular starter for new coach Slot, the 24-year-old has perhaps not had the desired effect when it comes to chance creation and goal scoring.
This season for example Szoboszlai only has ONE goal to his name and none scored in the Premier League. And that relative lack of output led to Slot to query Szoboszlai ahead of Liverpool’s recent Champions League game against AC Milan.

Rivals to emerge for Szoboszlai
"Something we have to work on is making him even more involved in scoring goals,” the Dutchman said.
“He scored three last season but for an attacking midfielder at Liverpool, his numbers need to go up. I am confident with the quality he has and the players around him he will score more goals as well."
And should Szoboszlai fail to get the requisite numbers then he may well be looking over his shoulder as rivals for his place in the team emerge. And that challenge could well come from within the club as a young midfield prodigy establishes himself.
Nyoni Liverpool's academy crown jewel
Trey Nyoni is one of the crown jewels in Liverpool’s academy, arriving from Leicester in summer 2023. He has since stepped up to feature in the first team for Klopp and Slot as well as making strides for England’s youth and underage teams.
A tall, rangy midfield all-rounder, the 17-year-old featured in the attacking midfield role for the Reds under-21s in the weekend clash against Wolves.
A matter of time for Nyoni
The Reds won 4-1 with Ranel Young netting twice to continue his good form but Noyni’s goal was undoubtedly the best of the bunch.
Picking up the ball between the lines, Nyoni found the space he needed to finish calmly for a goal which put Liverpool level after they fell behind early on.
It’s only a matter of time before Nyoni makes the permanent step up to Slot’s first-team set-up and if he takes his goals and chance creation with him then Szoboszlai could soon find himself under pressure.
