The top goals EVER according to Trent Alexander-Arnold
Trent Alexander-Arnold revealed the three goals he believes are the top of all time.
The Liverpool right-back did so in a Tweet back in May 2020, whiling the time away between the first Covid-19 lockdown and the moment when the Reds were permitted to complete their first top-flight success in 30 years.

We’ve not had a revised list from the 26-year-old since then so let’s assume these ones still stand the test of time. The England international reached back into the archives for these goals.

They all demonstrate the type of panache and technique we’ve come to expect from Trent - and these goals may have helped set him on the path to becoming the player he is today.
So here they are; the best goals ever scored according to Trent Alexander-Arnold, (with Trent's original descriptions in brackets).
Steven Gerrard vs Olympiacos - 2004 (what a hit son, what a hit)
The goal that changed everything.
With one sweet swing of his right boot, Steven Gerrard helped Liverpool qualify for the last-16 of the 2004/05 Champions League and the rest is history.
“You beauty! What a hit, son! What a hit!” said Andy Gray on Sky commentary.
Gerrard had met a knockdown from Neil Mellor (“lovely cushioned header”) - another academy graduate - to complete Liverpool’s comeback and progress ahead of Olympiacos on UEFA’s convoluted head-to-head rules.
To choose such an iconic Anfield goal - made by one academy kid and scored by perhaps the greatest - shows Trent’s loyalty and admiration for his boyhood club. Let’s hope that counts for something.
Thierry Henry vs Man Utd - 2000 (the flick up and hit on the turn)
This goal was scored during the 2000/01 Premier League season - the only goal Trent selected from the English top flight.
Taking a pass from Giles Grimandi, the French striker held off the attentions of his marker before flicking the ball up and firing into the far corner beyond Fabian Barthez.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest Premier League goals ever scored, it’s little wonder this one made it onto Trent’s list.
Zinedine Zidane vs Bayer Leverkusen - 2002 (you know the one)
Slightly more ominously, Trent has opted for a Real Madrid goal.
But even the most ardent hater would have to admit that this one was special. Taking a deflected ball out of the sky on his supposedly weaker foot, the Frenchman guided a volley beyond Hans-Jorg Butt in the Leverkusen goal.

So there you have it. Trent is clearly a firm advocate of class, technique, ability and a little bit of something special. Let’s hope he adds some more memories to the Anfield collection.
