Fabrizio Romano gives Trent Alexander-Arnold LATEST after Real Madrid approval claims
If Trent Alexander-Arnold is to leave Liverpool this season it looks almost certain he’ll be suiting up at the Bernabeu for Real Madrid next season.
The rumours have followed the right-back around all season and won’t die down until a decision is made one way or another.
The recent report that Liverpool’s initial offer to Trent didn’t meet the player’s salary demands has presented cause for concern regarding whether Liverpool are going to be able to extend Trent alongside Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk, whose contracts are also up at the end of the season.
And a new report from CaughtOffside alleges that Real Madrid are planning to offer Alexander-Arnold a contract of around £14-15 million per year running until 2030.
The report further states that Madrid have been in discussions with Trent’s team and that Trent himself is pleased with the length of the contract.
However, this would run contrary to reports by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano just yesterday that Liverpool are denying any reports of Trent not looking to extend his contract with the Reds.
“As of today, Liverpool deny to have any communication from the player or his camp that he is not going to extend his contract.” Romano said on his YouTube channel, “Trent Alexander-Arnold remains in contact with Liverpool and he’s talking to Liverpool.”
“Real Madrid are there, Real Madrid will be there and Real Madrid are not there ‘now’ - they have been there for months, since March.”
Which Liverpool and Madrid players earn more than Trent?
Trent’s current contract sees him bring in around £9m a year at Anfield, with the alleged Madrid contract representing an over 50% pay rise for the right-back.
If true, the offer would make him Real Madrid’s fifth highest-paid player behind Kylian Mbappe, David Alaba, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham. It would represent a significant long-term investment on their part, despite rumours that they don’t want to aggrieve the recently-injured Dani Carvajal.
Liverpool, meanwhile, currently pay Salah £18m per year and Virgil van Dijk £11m. If they were able to match the alleged Madrid offer it would prove to be a massive statement of the way in which they value the hometown hero.
If nothing is agreed by the January transfer window, Trent could end up signing a pre-agreement with the Spanish giants which would see him join them immediately after season’s end.
