Liverpool to miss out on Trent Alexander-Arnold successor
Liverpool may LOSE Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer at the end of this season. With the 26-year-old out of contract in summer 2025, the Reds have not yet made a breakthrough in talks over a new deal.
Real Madrid made an approach for Alexander-Arnold ahead of the opening of the January transfer window but Liverpool rebuffed those attempts to get a deal done.

Los Blancos were open to offering a paltry €10 million for Trent and have been reported to be preparing a second bid of only €15m. That is not going to be enough to convince sporting director Richard Hughes to sell the England man but the club will be vulnerable nonetheless.
Alexander-Arnold has been eligible since January 1 to speak to overseas clubs about a potential pre-contract agreement next summer. Accordingly, Real have the option to approach Trent and his entourage directly over a bumper contract.
And should Liverpool end up losing their homegrown hero for nothing, they will be requiring a replacement. While Conor Bradley is a fine prospect, the club’s hierarchy may opt for an alternative in the position.
Amar Dedic destined for RB Leipzig
Players like Vanderson, Lutsharel Geertruida and Jeremie Frimpong have all been linked with an Anfield arrival but one more name on the list may now be destined to end up elsewhere.
Amar Dedic, who plays for Jurgen Klopp’s Red Bull Salzburg enjoyed a breakout 2024 leading to transfer links to Liverpool as well as Manchester United. The 22-year-old Bosnian played under Pep Lijnders until his sacking by Salzburg and is seen as one of the few positives in a forgettable season thus far.
Salzburg will be expecting to lose the full-back in the summer transfer window but he could end up making an inter-company move rather than striking out for the Premier League.
“Ridle Baku (Wolfsburg) and Amar Dedic (Salzburg) appear on RB Leipzig’s right-back shortlist,” writes Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg on X, formerly Twitter.
Baku looks like leaving Wolfsburg on a free transfer with contact already established between the Red Bull hierarchy and his representatives. Leipzig require a right-back following a devastating injury blow to first-choice Benjamin Henrichs.
One of Klopp’s first tasks in charge of Red Bull therefore may be to deny Liverpool a chance to sign Dedic.
