Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk is the subject of transfer interest from Bayern Munich, according to a report in France. Furthermore, it adds that the Dutchman has received a ‘fantastic’ offer from big-money Al-Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia.

Van Dijk, 32, plunged his future into doubt after Jurgen Klopp’s announcement that he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.

The centre back stated that he would be ‘curious’ over what direction the club went once the German departed although he later rowed back those comments, claiming they had been taken out of context

However, transfer noise around Van Dijk has increased as the season draws to a close with Borussia Dortmund also among the sides linked with signing the Reds’ skipper

Van Dijk is under contract at Liverpool until 2025 and it remains to be seen what new sporting director Richard Hughes does in terms of a new deal.

The Netherlands international is not the only Liverpool star out of contract next summer with question marks over Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah too.

And now comes the news from SPORTS ZONE that Bayern have enquired about signing Van Dijk.

“Aged 33 this summer, Virgil Van Dijk attracts Bayern Munich, who has been in the news in recent days,” a post on X, formerly Twitter, read.

“Al-Qadisiah [sic] has already made a fantastic offer to the captain of the Reds. Van Dijk appears to want to stay at Liverpool but is not inflexible.”

The German record champions signed Eric Dier in the winter transfer window and have struggled at centre back all season long.

The beleaguered Korea defender Kim-Minjae attracted strong criticism for his part in both Real Madrid goals during the Champions League semi-final first leg on Tuesday night.

Other defenders such as Matthijs de Ligt and Dayot Upamecano have generally failed to convince.

A senior option such as Van Dijk would be a major step forward for new Bayern director for sport Max Eberl.

€2 TRILLION SAUDI CLUB LINKED

Meanwhile, megabucks Saudi outfit Al-Qadsiah have also been linked with a move for Van Dijk ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Saudi First Division League (FDL) side are set to be promoted to the Saudi Pro League at the end of the season and are looking to make a big impact in the summer transfer window.

They were coached by Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler until October last year and are now led by former Olympiakos coach Michel.

Al-Qadsiah are owned by Saudi Aramco, the Saudi Arabian Oil Group with an estimated value of over €2 TRILLION, coming under state control along with seven other Saudi clubs back in 2023.
