Liverpool transfers: Trent Alexander-Arnold contract boost as Madrid move on
Liverpool have received a timely boost in negotiations with Trent Alexander-Arnold over a new contract with the defender's current terms expiring in summer 2025.
Alexander-Arnold, 25, has spent his entire professional career at Anfield but time is rapidly running out and no agreement between the player and the club is yet in sight.

It was revealed by the England international a couple of weeks ago that his decision to sign a new deal would not necessarily come down to finances. It is believed the right-back wants guarantees over the kind of player Liverpool will seek to sign in the transfer market as well as as push for major trophies.
Although a Champions League, Premier League and Club World Cup winner during his time on Merseyside, among other honours, Alexander-Arnold has not been in the shake-up for top honours during the past few seasons.
As such the prospect of moving on a free transfer to Real Madrid appears to be an alluring prospect.
It's no secret that Jude Bellingham's team admire Trent and the two Englishmen enjoy a close relationship in the Three Lions' set-up.
Trent can talk to Madrid in January
As such it is believed that Madrid would seek to repeat their Antonio Rudiger and Kylian Mbappe tricks, capturing an elite talent for no transfer fee in order to expand their constellation of stars.
Trent is in a commanding position when it comes to talks with his current club and is entitled to speak to any overseas parties regarding a contract from January onwards.
However, Liverpool might well have been given a glimmer of hope in their attempts to tie down Alexander-Arnold due to the latest reports over Madrid's chase for a new right-back.
With Dani Carvajal getting on - and with an expiring contract of his own - los Blancos require a high-level defender to take over. Although Trent might well be seen as first choice, Florentino Perez's side have also been linked with Chelsea's Reece James as another option.
And now CaughtOffside is reporting that Madrid are laying the groundwork to bring Pedro Porro to the club as an alternative to pursuing the signing of Alexander-Arnold.
Real Madrid line up €65m Pedro Porro deal
Tottenham defender Porro is reportedly seen by Madrid as an attractive signing, and could well be available for a fee of around €65million.
The three-cap Spaniard is under contract with Tottenham until June 2028 but it's been reported that the 25-year-old could well be keen on a move to his home country if the right offer materialises.
With reports emerging that Madrid are ready to move on to other right-back targets, it could well mean that white smoke could soon be seen over Anfield and Alexander-Arnold's long-term future will be secure.
