'We will see soon': Fabrizio Romano's LATEST on Liverpool and Teun Koopmeiners

Fabrizio Romano has given his latest on Liverpool potentially moving for Teun Koopmeiners this summer. The midfielder could leave Atalanta.

There have been a few links, mostly out of Italy, between Liverpool and Teun Koopmeiners. It's a natural link to make, admittedly.

Koopmeiners is a player Liverpool allegedly looked at years ago before he moved to Atalanta from AZ Alkmaar. His form this season has been on another level, though, and he's expected to leave Bergamo this summer.

Atalanta president Antonio Percassi admitted he could sell the player in the wake of the club's UEFA Europa League triumph. Koopmeiners himself has talked about wanting to depart, too.

“I told Atalanta I want to leave in the summer,” Koopmeiners told De Telegraaf in March.

And now the links to Liverpool are even easier to make after they appointed Arne Slot as their new manager. Slot was Koopmeiners' coach back with AZ.

But journalist Fabrizio Romano isn't sure this one is moving anywhere. Not yet, anyway.

Fabrizio Romano on Liverpool and Teun Koopmeiner

“Teun Koopmeiners – We’re seeing more links with Liverpool, but I’m still told he’s a priority target for Juventus this summer. Juve are working on it,” Romano told Caughoffside.

“Let’s see what happens at Liverpool but my information is that there is nothing concrete so far, we will see as soon as Arne Slot meets with the club’s new directors.”

It is certainly telling that all the reports on this one have come from Italy. Juventus are the frontrunners in Serie A to sign Koopmeiners, but Liverpool supposedly have more cash to make the deal happen.

And so it could simply be a case of leaks using Liverpool to drive the price up and make it difficult for Juventus. Or it could be that there is something in it - but nothing concrete yet.

We'll just have to wait and see. Koopmeiners to Liverpool does make some sense but there's a long way to go before it's a done deal.
