Liverpool believe they've FOUND perfect £111m striker for Arne Slot era

Liverpool reportedly feel they might have found the ‘right’ striker to lead them forward in the post-Jurgen Klopp era.

Liverpool have reportedly set their sights on a new striker. They want a no.9 who can lead the line with consistent goalscoring - something they've sorely lacked in the last few weeks.

That's according to Corriere dello Sport, anyway. The Italian outlet now names Liverpool among a series of clubs hoping to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

Of course, Osimhen is in demand. Paris Saint-Germain want him, too, while Chelsea and Manchester United have been heavily linked.

But now Liverpool are in that mix. The outlet claims they see Osimhen as the 'right' striker to lead them after Jurgen Klopp - presumably the 'Arne Slot era'.

Though, Osimhen won't come cheap. There's a release clause of around £111m and PSG are ready to offer around £85m. That's a long way short of that clause, of course, but it suggests the bidding will start high.

In fact, it suggests Napoli will get the full clause if another club enters the race.

Liverpool tracking Victor Osimhen

Well, this is one that might actually make sense. Osimhen has consistently scored for years now, with 26 coming in Napoli's Scudetto-winning season. This year, even with their struggles, he's bagged 14.

It's notable, too, that Osimhen is a similar profile to Arne Slot's main goalscorer at Feyenoord, Santiago Gimenez.

Neither play many passes at all, nor do they complete the ones they do all that often (both average 68% pass completion). For comparison, Darwin Nunez passes at around 70% and plays comfortably more passes than either of them.

What Nunez doesn't do, though, is finish his chances. He's four goals below his xG - the worst rate in the Premier League. Osimhen and Gimenez are both right in line with theirs.

So if Slot wants to replicate his Feyenoord system, Osimhen could well be the elite striker he's after. Now comes the question of whether Liverpool would spend the money.
