Liverpool are not sitting idle in the January transfer window, the club are reportedly 'red hot' on signing a forward sensation.

On the surface, it may not seem like the Reds are in need of another striker. However, below the surface with the contract situation of Mohamed Salah rumbling on, uncertainty over the futures of Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz and the injury situation of Diogo Jota - the Reds would like another attacker.

Anfield Watch exclusively reported that Darwin Nunez is the subject of interest from Saudi Arabia.

It is moot whether Jota or Diaz will get contract extensions, which means in the summer the Reds could well be making a move for a forward.

And one name just keeps being mentioned around Liverpool.

Why Liverpool are 'red hot' on Stefanos Tzimas

Anfield Watch were the first to exclusively report that Liverpool were interested in Stefanos Tzimas, with Barry Hunter travelling to Germany to discuss a possible deal for the Greek forward.

Now Fussbal News in Germany have verified those reports and have claimed that Liverpool are 'red hot' in their pursuit of the sensational 19-year-old forward.

The report claims Liverpool are prepared to pay €25m in order to sign Tzimas from Nurnberg once the German side activates their clause to buy him from PAOK in the summer.

The report claims that Liverpool are planning on snapping up young prospects early and that English clubs are always keeping a close eye on the 2.Bundesliga - Germany's second tier.

Tzimas has clearly been a stand-out player in the division and he fits into Liverpool's style of play.

It's clear that the Reds have to make room for him first before they can bring him into the team, and there is a big question mark about whether he is ready to make the step-up to Anfield.

However, Michael Edwards and Barry Hunter have struck gold for Liverpool in the past, so the Reds might just be better off trusting their judgement.
