CONFIRMED: Richard Hughes set to make first Liverpool January addition
It’s shaping up to be a busy January around Anfield. There are plenty of tasks in sporting director Richard Hughes’ intray.
First of all there is the future of Darwin Nunez to sort out with the Uruguay frontman the subject of intense transfer speculation from Saudi Arabia.

Then there is the potential for a deal to be done with Nurnburg and PAOK for teenage wonderkid Stefanos Tzimas with the Reds hoping to wrap up the striker’s signing.
Elsewhere, Kaide Gordon and Calvin Ramsay will be sent to new loan clubs for the second half of the season while there could be movement regarding Stefan Bajcetic too.
Liverpool hiring for Scandinavian scout
Off the field there are issues to be taken care of, with the club now actively recruiting a new Scandinavian scout.
An advertisement on LinkedIn states that the club are seeking: “An individual based within Scandinavia with proven Scouting & Recruitment experience to join our Liverpool FC team as a Regional Scout.”
The successful candidate will analyse players in the region and create shortlists of potential recruits. They will also attend and observe matches as well as create scouting reports on Liverpool targets.
Liverpool will be hoping to steal a march on Premier League and European rivals in Scandinavia in transfer windows upcoming.
In recent seasons the likes of Hugo Larsson, Momodou Sonko and Malick Yalcouye have emerged from Sweden’s Allsvenskan with the Reds linked with their signatures.
Alexander Isak and recent Tottenham arrival Lucas Bergvall also took their first steps in the Swedish leagues before moving on to bigger things.
In Denmark, a plethora of promising names have recently secured big-money moves to top European leagues with Ernest Nuamah, Orri Oskarsson, Ibrahim Osman and Conrad Harder all emerging from the Superliga.
Likewise, in Norway, Erling Haaland and Victor Boniface - among others - took their first significant professional steps.
It’s all change in Liverpool’s scouting department this season with the Reds' director of scouting and recruitment, Dave Fallows, leaving after 12 years.
Meanwhile, Copenhagen-based scout Mads Jorgensen left Liverpool last week in order to take up a position with Norwegian side Molde.
