Forget Martin Zubimendi, another Spanish midfielder is desperate to join Liverpool and he's PERFECT
Liverpool have long struggled to recruit a new defensive midfielder.
The Martin Zubimendi saga was just the latest of a number of failed attempts to fill the hole left by Fabinho when he left in 2023.

The European Championship-winning midfielder had been the club's main target for the summer transfer window and for a long time, it looked like Liverpool were finally about to get a player over the line.
Zubimendi's release clause of €60m (£51m) was triggered by the Reds and Real Sociedad were reportedly happy to confirm the agreement, but personal terms with the player were less than straightforward, and the move collapsed in the end.
However, there is another up-and-coming midfield talent at Sociedad and according to a new interview, an agreement on personal terms would not be difficult to come by.
Benat Turrientes' close connection with Liverpool
22-year-old Turrientes is a young Spanish midfielder who plays in both central midfield and defensive midfield.
Fresh off winning gold at the Olympic Games this summer with his country, he is considered to be one of the bright stars in European football.
At Real Sociedad, Turrientes is learning from Zubimendi all the time, and while the latter dismissed Liverpool emphatically in the summer, the former adores Liverpool Football Club.
In a recent interview with RELEVO, Turrientes spoke about his family and the special relationship he has with the Reds.
He said: I've always said that my father really liked Liverpool. In fact, he watched Xabi [Alonso]'s final there when he was playing against Milan. My father always played the Liverpool song for my sister and me. We always watched Liverpool games at home.
"I always told him that I wanted to go to Anfield to see a match and I also told him that one day I wanted to play there too. I haven't managed to do either of those things yet, but going is something I still have to do."
In addition, he also has a tattoo on his arm which reads "You'll Never Walk Alone".
Liverpool midfield hunt goes on
The decision to get the tattoo was fuelled by his father's admiration for the club and as such, he will always have a special connection to the club and Liverpool may want to pursue his ambition to play at Anfield someday.
Currently, there are no transfer links between Turrientes and the club, as a result of the young Spanish native having recently signed a contract extension with Sociedad until 2029, however, it is clear that while Zubimendi firmly declined Liverpool, other players at the same club have a different view.
Of course, Liverpool ended up using Ryan Gravenberch in defensive midfield this season, but the hunt for a new recruit is still ongoing and there are plenty of players out there that Richard Hughes will not have any difficulty in agreeing personal terms with.
