The transfer window in January is one Liverpool need to be clever with.

With links to multiple players, the board need to be precise with their decisions around the future of the squad, with the team clearly in a transitioning period. One player whose future looks to be in doubt at the club is Luis Diaz.

And Liverpool may want to quickly find his replacement, with a young La Liga starlet being the main focus.

Diaz future is uncertain

Diaz's contract situation is looking perilous. According to reports, he rejected the latest offer from the club as the wages were incredibly low for his talent and ability. It may have come as quite offensive to him as a player.

The Colombian has stayed on the same contract as he did when he first joined the club earning around £40,000 per week.

Comparing this to other players like Mohamed Salah who is on £350,000 a week, this is incredibly low and you can understand the winger's frustrations.

He has been a phenomenal asset to Arne Slot's squad this season and his determination and work-rate should not go unnoticed.

His contract is set to expire in 2027, meaning time is slowly running out before the board thinks about selling him.

But a potential replacement has already been scouted.

Moro to replace Diaz?

Raul Moro is looking to help Real Valladolid stay in La Liga this season. Having been promoted the season before, they find themselves in a relegation battle sitting 19th in the table, four points off safety.

But one gleaming beacon in the club's tough season has been Moro. The 22-year-old has displayed daring performances and oozes self-confidence on the field, helping himself to three goals so far this season.

This may not sound impressive and light years away from what Diaz is producing, but this is his debut season in Spain's top flight and his ability has no bounds.

What will also entice Liverpool to secure his services is the transfer fee.

According to Sport.es, the Reds are closely following the “evolution” of the young attacker.

Moreover the article states that despite being valued at €4m, “Pucela would listen to offers of around 10 million, a high figure for a club with a humble budget in the First Division.”

This price is certainly attractive to the Reds.

The opportunity to purchase a rising talent for a miniscule fee in this day and age is rare.

Richard Hughes has also stated that he wants to make more "opportunistic signings" with the right player coming at the right price. This is a clear example of that.

Of course the Reds have unfinished business to settle with Diaz, but if it comes to the point where negotiations can’t be agreed on, the signing of Moro would be very clever indeed.
