Liverpool could be in the process of putting in a place a transfer that Arne Slot would love.

It's been a really quiet window for Liverpool both in January and the summer. Richard Hughes has chosen to not fire any bullets in the market.

However, he has been smart in his decision to send players out on loan. The latest of those could be Stefan Bajcetic's recall from Red Bull Salzburg to go to Las Palmas.

Bajcetic has already made his debut for his new club and has caught the eye with an impressive performance. Playing week in week out in La Liga is going to be hugely beneficial for the development of the Liverpool youngster.

But it's a deal that could also help Liverpool edge closer to a move for a long-term target.

Liverpool closer to Alberto Moleiro deal

Last year there were reports linking Liverpool to Alberto Moleiro from Las Palmas, who has a €60m release clause.

Moleiro has been likened to Pedri in Spain and could be a potential replacement for Harvey Elliott, who has been linked with a move away from Anfield.

Recently, Fichajes listed Liverpool as one of the top three most likely destinations for Moleiro in 2025. By conducting business with Las Palmas, Hughes could be putting in place a potential future deal for Moleiro to ease negotiations for a midfielder who could be an ideal fit for Arne Slot's team.

Moleiro's dynamism and creativity is exactly what Slot looks for in his team. He's fast and direct and has shades of Dominik Szoboszlai about him.

Slot loves to work with players like that, who are both physically strong and meet the requirements of his intense system but are also technically sublime.

Harvey Elliott falls short of that because he doesn't quite fit into the physical demands of this system. But Moleiro fits into it like a dream.

Now that Bajcetic has gone to Las Palmas, it should be relatively easy for Liverpool to pursue a move for Moleiro. The contact is already there.
